Degree with Distinction

Outstanding economics students (with a total GPA of 3.2 at the time of application and a potential for a 3.5 in Economics) are eligible to become candidates for a Degree with Distinction.  Candidates must take the Honors Seminar, ECON 4494W, preferably in the spring of the junior year, and take one graduate course in Economics.  The principle requirement for Distinction, however, is a comprehensive examination.  The first part of the exam is written (based on an annotated bibiography prepared as part of ECON 4494W), and the second part is oral. A committee of three Economics faculty conducts the comprehensive exam.  Candidates may enroll in 3499, Independent Study, to prepare for the comprehensive exam.  Contact Richard Langlois for more information, and consult the Honors Program website.
